Dental X-Ray

X-Ray is sometimes required to find out the underlying cause of infection. It is a very important tool in diagnosis. Dental Care Clinic is equipped with digital X-Ray machine. Good qulaity kodak films are used to take X-Rays. Small size films are used to take X-Rays. Special measure like lead aprons and low radiations are used to reduce the effect of X-Rays.

Extractions/Surgeries
Are done atraumatically. First surface anaesthetic spray is used to numb the area where injection has to be given. The anaesthetic system by septodent (France) which contains cortridges and needles which are very thin are used. Impactions (retained wisdom teeth) and fractures of the jaws are treated with great caution. Surgical instruments are sterlised by autoclavation.

Dentures
Over the years there are many advancements in the materials used to make dentures. Different materials like stellon, TrHi, Luciton and flexible material are used to make dentures. Good quality acrylic teeth sets which appear asthetically pleasing and don't discolour are used. Implant supported dentures are also made which are quite stable. If some teeth are missing they are replaced by removable partial dentures.

Crown and Bridge work (Capping)
Single or mutiple teeth can be replaced by fixed bridges which are extremely comfortable and last for years together. Gold, metal, porcelain fused to metal, empress and zirconia bridges are made.

Implants
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. While high-tech in nature, dental implants are actually more tooth-saving than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Dental implants are so natural-looking and feeling, you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Long-term studies continue to show improving success rates for implants.

Scaling and Root Planning
Scaling and root planing means is to remove or eliminate the etiologic agents which causes inflammation: dental plaque and calculus thus helping to establish a periodontium that is free of disease. Scaling procedure "include the removal of plaque, calculus and stain from the crown and root surfaces of teeth, whereas root planing is a specific treatment that removes the roughened cementum and surface dentin that is impregnated with calculus, microorganisms and their toxins. Scaling and root planing are often referred to as deep cleaning, and may be performed using a number of dental tools, including ultrasonic instruments and hand instruments, such as periodontal scalers and curettes.

Gum Surgeries

Gum surgery is a procedure to treat the gingiva and the soft tissues of the mouth that surround the necks of a patient's teeth and support the bone. There are different types of gum surgeries. They are :

Crown lengthening : Removal of gum tissue and/or bone to expose more of the tooth. It is performed when there is not enough of the tooth exposed above the gum line to fit a crown or other restoration over a decayed or otherwise damaged tooth.

Gingivectomy : Surgical removal of gum tissue. It is one of the procedures used to reduce gaps or pockets between the teeth and gums that trap food particles. It is also used to reduce excessive and overgrown gum tissue around the teeth, particularly in patients taking certain medications.

Gingivoplasty : A procedure which involves surgically reshaping the soft tissue around a tooth to restore a more normal appearance and contour. It is used to treat gum tissue malformed due to genetic factors, disease or trauma.

Following gum surgery, a special periodontal dressing is placed over the gums and left there for about 5 to 7 days. This acts as a bandage which protects and soothes the soft tissue making the patients feel more comfortable following surgery. Patients may receive prescriptions for pain medication and a mouthwash such as chlorhexidine (an antimicrobial agent) to prevent infection during the healing period.

Filling (All types)

A dental restoration or dental filling is a dental restorative material used to restore the function, integrity and morphology of missing tooth structure. The structural loss typically results from caries or external trauma. It is also lost intentionally during tooth preparation to improve the aesthetics or the physical integrity of the intended restorative material. Tooth preparation is usually required before placing a dental restoration. This process involves cutting the tooth usually with a dental drill to make space for the planned restoration, remove any dental decay and structurally unsound tooth. If permanent restoration can not be carried out after tooth preparation, temporary restoration is done. A tooth preparation is the finished product of a tooth's structure prior to restoration with a dental restorative material, such as gold, amalgam, composite, porcelain or any number of other materials.

Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry, is comprehensive oral care that combines art and science to optimally improve dental health, aesthetics and function.
Today's common cosmetic dental treatment options include:
* Whitening, or "tooth bleaching", is the most common cosmetic dental procedure. While many whitening options are now available, dentist-supervised treatments remain the recommended procedures for lightening discolored teeth.[citation needed]
* Enamel shaping removes parts of the contouring enamel to improve the appearance of the tooth. It may be used to correct a very small chip.
* Contouring, also known as tooth reshaping, is one of few instant treatments now available in cosmetic dentistry. Dental reshaping and contouring is a procedure to correct crooked teeth, chipped teeth, cracked teeth or even overlapping teeth in just one session. The dental contouring procedure can even be a substitute for braces under certain circumstances.
* Bonding is a process in which an enamel-like dental composite material is applied to a tooth's surface, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished.
* Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are an option for closing gaps or disguising discolored teeth that do not respond well to whitening procedures.
* Gum lift is a cosmetic dental procedure that raises and sculpts the gum line. The procedure involves reshaping the tissue and/or underlying bones to create the appearance of longer or more symmetrical teeth.

Root Canal Treatment (RCT)
The nerve of the tooth gets damaged due to many reasons. One of the main causes is cavity in the tooth that grows deeper and touches the nerve. Since the cavity is filled with bacteria, the root canal gets inflamed and causes pain. Other reasons that may damage the teeth are accidental cracks or infection from gums reaching to the base of roots. In such cases, root canal treatments can easily stabilise the position. It's important to have root canal therapy done quickly. The bacteria will travel down the canal to the root and into the jawbone. If this happens, the pain of your toothache will spread to your jaw. Even more important, the infection can cause your jawbone to deteriorate and weaken the structure that holds your teeth.
Common Symptoms requiring an RCT:

  • Severe tooth pain, typically relieved by cold water and increases with the intake of hot liquids.
  • Pain worsens when you lie down and reduces when you sit up.
  • Pain stays for a long time after consuming cold things.
  • Swelling around the tooth.
  • Constant tooth pain
  • Pain when chewing.
  • Tooth pain referred to head and ears as well.
  • Tooth sensitivity on consuming sweets.

Correction of Irregular Teeth
Orthodontics is a specialty field of dentistry that diagnoses, prevents and treats irregularities of the teeth and face. Treatment can correct an irregular or "bad" bite, also known as a malocclusion.
Orthodontic care involves the use of corrective appliances, usually braces. These devices can be used to:

  • Straighten teeth
  • Correct an irregular bite
  • Close unsightly gaps
  • Bring teeth and lips into proper alignment

In young children, orthodontic treatment also may guide proper jaw growth and permanent tooth eruption.

Child Dentistry
Milk teeth play an important role in the alignment and spacing of permanent teeth.Child Dentistry Chandigarh They support the upper and lower jaws vis-à-vis each other. Constant chewing with deciduous dentition is an essential prerequisite for the correct development of the jaws. If milk teeth are lost too early on, the position of the other teeth may be affected, which is why it is important that milk teeth should remain intact until they are replaced by permanent teeth. Milk teeth are like babies - they need special care.  And  special protection, because the enamel of milk teeth and new permanent teeth is still soft and not yet fully mature. We at Dental Care Clinic provide complete care and treatment to little ones when required.

Taking Care of Your Teeth
Most mouth woes are caused by plaque. Plaque is a sticky layer of bacteria, bits of food and other organic matter that forms on your teeth. The bacteria in plaque make acids that cause cavities. Plaque also leads to periodontal (gum) disease. This can become a serious infection. It can damage bone and destroy the tissues around your teeth.
The best defense is to remove plaque before it has a chance to build up and cause problems. Brushing removes plaque from the large surfaces of the teeth and from just under the gums. Flossing removes plaque from between your teeth. You also can use other tools like  mouthwashes, oral irrigators and interdental cleaners to keep your mouth and teeth clean .

Dental Tourism
India is emerging as one of the preferred destinations for dental tourism in the world. Thousands of people from USA, Europe and other parts of the world fly to India every year seeking dental treatment. Though tourists attach a variety of reasons for their travel, the major indicator is the cost for dental implants and dental surgery, which is generally cheap in India.  Dental implants are titanium fixtures or artificial teeth that are surgically placed in the jawbone. Over a period the titanium fixtures merges with the teeth bone through a process called osseo-integration. Once this foundation becomes strong, a crown or bridge is placed on the respective teeth.
